Each of the 11 hobstars are cut with 16 points. 8" in diameter and 3.5" tall. A very few small chips and shallow scratches consistent with age (see pictures). Clearly marked "Libbey" in the center of the bowl. This centerpiece bowl, based on a 5-point star completes the pattern in a pentagramic manner. The major motifs are Hobstars. The rim saw tooth and scalloped.
The pattern is cut through and through with all the motifs notable and clearly visible on the underside. The craftsmanship as stated is extremely fine with brilliantly, artistically crafted design and pattern.
Quality, assured by maker reputation. The light dispersion, for example, so outstanding, results in brilliant reflective and refractive colors, radiance of course. The deeply blown blank is about 3/8 inch thick. Resulting in prolonged and sonorous resonance.
Symmetry and balance are givens. This wonderful centerpiece is in fine condition. The golden age of American Brilliant cut glass was 1876 to 1917. In that span, factories such as Libbey Glass in Ohio, Pairpoint in Massachusetts, Hawkes in Corning, N. And Dorflinger in Pennsylvania produced intricately cut glass of such beauty that the like has not been seen again.
